Troubleshooting issues

Encountering problems with your theme? Let's tackle them step by step with these troubleshooting tips.

  1. Disable apps.

If you've recently added an app and suspect it's causing issues, consider disabling it or any others you believe might be related to the problem. For instance, if the problem centers on your product page, check for apps linked to product functionalities, such as product reviews or subscriptions. Disable these apps one by one to identify the culprit.

Deleting the app from your app dashboard may not completely remove these integrated codes. For thorough removal instructions, consult the app developer's documentation or get in touch with them directly.

If disabling a specific app resolves the issue, don't hesitate to contact the app developer. They are well-versed in their code and may have encountered similar conflicts on other themes.

  2. Rollback changes.

In cases where code modifications have been made to your theme files, these customizations might clash with the theme or lead to problems. If a developer made these changes around the time you noticed the issue, it's advisable to reach out to them first before seeking further support.

For instances where you've made template file changes yourself, consider reverting to an older version using Shopify's rollback code functionality. In Shopify's template editor, a circle will appear next to theme templates that have been altered.

  3. Install a fresh copy.

Download a fresh copy of your theme and compare it with your current published version. This comparison will help determine if the issue persists in a new installation. It's a valuable step to pinpoint whether the problem originates from customizations made to template files. If you require an earlier version of the theme, feel free to submit a support request.

Third-party app support

Please be aware that we do not offer complimentary support for third-party code or apps, and we do not perform compatibility testing between apps and our themes. If an app disrupts the operation of your theme, your first point of contact should be the app developer. They are best equipped to assist you in resolving issues related to their app's interaction with our theme.

Integrating third-party apps into your theme can significantly enhance your store's functionality. Here's what you need to know:

Compatibility with Online Store 2.0.

The Avante theme is fully compatible with Shopify's Online Store 2.0. This means you can seamlessly add specific apps directly via the theme editor as an ‘app block.’

Choosing the right apps.

The majority of Shopify apps are developed by third-party experts. Before installing an app, it's advisable to review its documentation or contact their support for insights into how it integrates with our theme.

As theme developers, we cannot modify our code to accommodate every app. Making changes for one app can potentially create conflicts with other theme functions or other apps. However, we provide app developers access to our code so they can make the necessary adjustments on their end to ensure seamless compatibility with our themes.

App performance considerations.

Please keep in mind that apps that modify or add elements to your store's frontend often introduce JavaScript files that can impact page load times. To maintain optimal loading speeds, aim to limit the number of apps integrated into your themes to fewer than five.
